You can purchase one of several Dart Regional Passes or SMART 31 Day Passes. Every pass is valid from the first day it is activated on a SMART Fixed Route bus. The activation and expiration date are printed on the back of the pass at the time of activation. The Dart 31 Day Regional pass is a tap and go pass - simply touch the pass to the farebox to pay your ride.
Mobile passes cannot be purchased in the SMART store. Download Transit to buy a mobile pass.
SMART Value Passes are excellent for infrequent riders. Your fare is deducted from the Value Pass each time it is used. The remaining balance is printed on the back of the Value Pass. The Value Pass expires when the balance reaches zero.
Purchase a SMART $11 Value Pass for just $10 and save a buck! The appropriate bus fare is deducted every time the pass is used, and the balance is printed on the back. And remember, SMART Value Passes never expire as long as there is value left on the pass.
Purchase a SMART $22 Value Pass for just $20 and double your savings. The appropriate bus fare is deducted every time the pass is used, and the balance is printed on the back. SMART Value Passes never expire as long as there is value remaining on the pass.
Seniors and disabled persons can purchase the SMART 50¢ 31-Day Pass and receive unlimited rides at a reduced fare on SMART’s low floor handicapped accessible Fixed Route buses. It’s a smart way for seniors and disabled persons to save on SMART fixed route services. The expiration date is printed on the back upon activation. This pass is accepted on SMART Flex.
Senior and disabled riders who ride the SMART Connector (curb-to-curb) service purchase the SMART $1.00 31-Day Pass for unlimited rides and save on SMART bus fare. Attention Connector Customer: The 31 day $1.00 pass must be activated at the time of purchase or on a Fixed Route SMART bus. This pass is accepted on SMART Flex.
The SMART $2.00 31-Day Pass is available to passengers who only ride SMART Fixed Route service. No more fumbling for change; it’s the easiest and most economical way to receive unlimited rides throughout the tri-county area. This pass is accepted on SMART Flex.
NOTICE: Sales end December 29, 2025. Park and Ride service will transition to $2.00 fare on January 5, 2026. Commute from the suburbs to the city by purchasing the SMART $2.50 31 Day Pass and receive a premium service to your destination. Simply park your car in one of our designated SMART Park & Ride lots and let SMART do the driving.
The Dart 4 Hour Regional Pass eliminates the use of transfers and customers have unlimited rides on SMART and DDOT in any direction. This pass allows riders to access locations in the suburbs and within the city of Detroit for four consecutive hours. The Dart 4 Hour Regional Pass can be purchased on the bus and transit centers. When purchased on the bus, the pass is automatically activated. When the 4 Hour pass is purchased from a transit center, it must be activated by inserting the pass into the farebox on a SMART or DDOT bus. To purchase a Dart 4 Hour Reduced Regional Pass, a reduced fare ID or valid driver's license, Medicare Cardholder or state ID must be presented at time of purchase. This pass is accepted on SMART Flex.
Customers who purchase the Dart 24 Hour Regional Pass receive unlimited rides on both SMART and DDOT buses for a 24-hour time span. Customers can ride in any direction to locations in the suburbs and within the city of Detroit. The Dart 24 Hour Regional Pass can be purchased from the bus or transit centers. When the pass is purchased on the bus, the 24-hour pass is activated automatically. When the 24 Hour pass is purchased from a transit center, it must be activated by inserting the pass into the farebox on a SMART or DDOT bus. To purchase a Dart 24 Hour Reduced Regional Pass, a reduced fare ID or valid driver's license, Medicare Cardholder, state-issued ID must be presented at time of purchase. This pass is accepted on SMART Flex.
Customers who purchase the Dart 7 Day Regional Pass can save on their commuting costs and receive unlimited rides on both SMART and DDOT buses to locations in the suburbs and within the city of Detroit. The Dart 7 Day Regional Pass is good for seven consecutive days from the first activation on a SMART or DDOT bus. To purchase a Dart 7 Day Reduced Regional Pass, a reduced fare ID must be presented at time of purchase. This pass is accepted on SMART Flex.
This is the new 31-Day regional fare card that will serve on both SMART and DDOT buses. There aren’t any transfer or additional fees associated with this fare card. The new fare card allows you unlimited rides in any direction on both SMART and DDOT within the designated time frame. This pass is accepted on SMART Flex.
